My online class is reading All Friends Are Necessary by Tomas Moniz, which I totally recommend.
Another favorite writer, the late Tom Spanbauer, used to teach that when an object passes between two characters in a story, to slow the narrative down, because that’s energy passing between the two characters.
In honor of both Tomas and Tom, here’s this week’s assignment:
Write about a friendship. And in this piece, let an object get passed between the friends, and slow the narrative down when that object passes between them, because that’s energy.
